In a proclamation issued by Norfolk County Commissioners Francis O’Brien of Dedham, John Gillis of Quincy, and Peter Collins of Milton, April 7 has been designated a Day of Recognition for National Service in Norfolk County. For the third year, cities and counties across the nation are participating in Mayors Day and County Day of Recognition for National Service. This day celebrates volunteers for the work they accomplish and the example they set in our communities. The Commissioners’ encourage citizens “to express gratitude to the volunteers they encounter and to consider giving their own time to support their neighbors.” The Norfolk County Commissioners specifically point to the impact of volunteers over age 55, and the Norfolk County RSVP Volunteer Program whose mission is to help volunteers find meaningful roles. To sign up with RSVP, call 781-329-5728.
